Star Trek Tri-Dimensional Chess–any Star Trek fan remembers the classic episodes with games played between Captain Kirk and Spock. Unlike the traditional game of Chess, Business Chess differs greatly in that it promotes direct communication with fellow players. Best played with two teams of five players each, Business Chess is an excellent exercise in the decision making process, as the team collectively decides on each move. Only one player may make the actual move on the board of his team, alleviating crowding and strengthening communication effectively. A 3-D chess board game was invented in 1907 by Dr. Ferdinand Maack known as Raumschach meaning Space Chess. With its cubed shape in five equal sections with a tower look, this unique game is played to present day. The two color squares make for a visual effect of grasping each move of the chess pieces.

So, why not mix the two and create the ultimate Star Trek board game experience? Well, various game designers did just that.
